<ul><li>The Chinese economy is in a &lsquo;new normal&rsquo; of lower, but higher quality growth.</li><li>Large vulnerabilities could derail economic prospects as the authorities struggle with bubbles in property, equity and debt markets. There is a need to address these weaknesses without impacting growth.</li><li>Structural reforms must persist despite cyclical considerations. China needs to allow the flourishing of free market forces, overhaul the cumbersome SOE sector and strengthen social safety nets. China currency regime is also shifting to be more market-oriented, which accords greater flexibility and credibility.</li><li>On a broad basis, cyclical indicators paint a picture of deceleration; trade flows are especially weak while investment levels have fallen.</li><li>The short-term adjustment pains associated with China&rsquo;s rebalancing are necessary and transitory but beneficial in the long-term.
