Household debt growth accelerated in Mar 18, as industry data suggests. The near prospect of stricter mortgage rules including the adoption of the Debt Service Ratio system by banks spurred households to take on more loans. The five main banks in Korea, including Shinhan Bank and Kookmin Bank, increased lending to households by KRW3.1tr (USD2.9bn) in Mar 18 compared to the previous month.
