Chartonics weekly Monday 25 April 2016Europe reach as China cracksApril has been a challenging month given our USD basing call and delayed transition to risk off. Our book is up a meagre 1% for April. EM cracks unfolding with Europe reaching for a cycle peak.EM’s are topping relative to the S&amp;P and registered a clearer bear reversal versus Europe.China’s break below Shanghai 3,000 support was the call to lock in gains in A shares but is viewed as a damaging turn in the EM cycle. Graduated China ripples to impact linked assets.FX – SGD and KRW are our top short bets in Asian FX. Re set our SGD short below 1.34. Sliced into KRW short at 1,130. AUD shorted at 0.78. INR and IDR favored long yield plays. USD/JPY spike calls for re calibration. DXY 94 support turn and Euro 1.1460 top call. Euro short re set at 1.1344. Bearish Euro/GBP cross. Gold risk of wedge support breach.Europe – Reduced DAX short, turned long Eurostoxx 50 at 3,105 on 4/19 given breakouts. Europe outperforming the US and EM’s. Euro banks a top short theme at SX7E 114 zone.US equities – Short tech/long SPX pair on uptick and ease into short DJI/long SPX until we see a bigger top in the S&amp;P. Small caps next in line.EEM 34.50 short with add above 35. EM’s underperforming Europe and rolling versus the US. EM’s are a top short theme in transition if our USD base and rally takes hold.Asia longs: Nifty long from 7,580 with rally failure bias. H share long. 2823 sold. Long Singapore from 2,840 - looking for the exit. Nikkei long from 17,250 via long Nikkei/short Korea pair trade from 4/14.Asia shorts:  248 Korea short. Bearish/short bias for Taiwan. Thai banks a short near sub index 470. Intend to re short Singapore banks/STI into strength.USD/JPY – Push past 111 to fade above 113 with Nikkei exit adjusted to 17,900+.Cycle transition was touted to impact FX (dollar bullish) and commodities (near top) and then bleed into EM’s (underperforming already) as DM’s hold up. So far this transition remains on track but our timing was shifted to the right. US equities to re take top perform position after a pullback/pause.
