Phil Rush

Philip Rush is the Founder and Chief Economist of Heteronomics. Until launching in November 2016, he was Nomura's Senior European Economist and was the Chief UK Economist there since 2010. Before that, he was UK Economist at Barclays Wealth, where he also developed strategic asset allocation models for their market return portfolios. Philip started his career at Lehman Brothers covering the UK, Scandinavian and Swiss economies. A book on his fundamental framework was published in January 2018 as "Real Market Economics".

<ul><li>In the final print, headline EA inflation was confirmed as slowing by 0.2pp to 2.6%. The 0.1pp of upside from the flash was genuine and even worse in services.</li><li>January’s divergence in the underlying inflationary impulse was resolved with clustering nearer 2%, potentially consistent with a sustainable return to the inflation target.</li><li>Lower energy costs may flatter the picture, while strong services inflation suggests wage growth remains too high. We still see the ECB’s first cut rolling to September.</li></ul><p></p>
