<p>Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshihide Suga, clarified his recent remarks about the need to bring down Japanese mobile phone bills, including his comment that bills could fall by 40%. Suga said that he based his remarks on (1) an OECD survey which found that Japanese prices were about double the OECD average and (2) <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/31" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:31:1">Rakuten Inc (4755 JP)</a> saying it would charge about half what existing providers charge.With regards the second point, obviously the proof is in the pudding, but the first point is worthy of further investigation.
