<p>On 8 June 2018, the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission started the public consultation on its proposal to abolish foreign ownership cap in the asset management sector. China will provide the single largest growth opportunity for global investment managers. This study presents the most updated analysis on China’s asset management industry. First, we introduce each category of the asset managers in China. Next, the study examines the factors that contribute to the growth of assets under managements (AUM), which is the first of its kind. Last but not least, we analyse the implications of recent regulations and the effects on asset managers.</p>
