Technical Analysis

Call for equity strength to fade last week into a September correction is on track. The argument for a pullback in Asia is based primarily on extended rises in Hong Kong and Korea. Fed speak snapped the back of the S&amp;P range.DXY 94.50 and 94.00 in the spotlight. Below DXY 94 would induce an October EEM melt up.US equities – Weak internals led to September weakness. Must re-measure the ability for the S&amp;P to hold 2,100 pivot support but this is where we want to pick at longs for a reaction rally. Financials perform; Transports short in line.H shares look stretched above 10,000 and vulnerable to a pullback per our base case to trim in this zone.USD/JPY – Long placed at 101.25 and looking to add with 100 macro pivot and 104 the key hurdle. Nikkei expected see firm bias due to global weakness offset by a weaker JPY.Australia and Singapore are the weakest links in Asia (short pairs). We opted to short DBS at 15.50 after kissed the targeted gap at 15.70. Stuck with Taiwan’s short given the TSMC fade at 185. Korea is reversing to bearish.EEM – Fade above 38 targets 34.50 near the 22nd. We entered more pairs to cushion a DM induced decline. Russia long exited at our 995 target. Mexico is back to square one and re-testing the key breakout point (fresh support zone).Japan – Exposure to JPY sensitive stocks and will load up on the Nikkei on harder weakness. USD/JPY sliced into at 101.25 with 104 pivot.Asia longs –India long from Nifty 7,752 (sold most recent tranche at 8,950). H share 9,100 long met 10k trim zone (perform bet worked). Hyundai Motor 129.5k long. Korea long hit our 262 target (looking weaker). SEC fresh long at 1.617m with 1.58 pivot. JPY sensitive Nikkei stocks (SMFG, Nissan, Kyocera). SHK long sold (+6%). Sliced into Catcher.Asia shorts – HSI pair short. Short TSMC and Taiwan pairs held. Thailand weak pair/Thai banks short at 495. Australia and Singapore short pairs (DBS proxy).Cycles – DM cycle rolled over in line with the September cycle thanks partly to Fed jawboning but things can turn back up on a dime near S&amp;P 2,100 buy zone with a tight risk level.
