ATN Intl. (ATNI) is inching closer to completing the purchase of Alaska Communications (ALSK) while continuing its buildout under the FirstNet contract. The addition of ALSK to ATNI’s portfolio of telecom assets is expected to bolster total adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow.</li></ul> <ul type="disc"><li>The consolidated numbers ATNI would begin to report should register with investors and give the shares a lift from their current trading range. ATNI’s other businesses have continued to perform in line or slightly better making the addition of ALSK immediately accretive to expectations.</li></ul> <ul type="disc"><li>ATNI used some of its cash in the first quarter to buy an additional 5 percent stake in its One Communications subsidiary bringing its ownership to 77 percent. We believe the same would probably be done with ALSK after it is acquired.</li></ul> <ul type="disc"><li>The first quarter results did not hold any surprises to make us change our earnings forecasts. ATNI is undertaking a cost reduction program to help adjust its operations with its revenue. Any improvement in cost savings would be a positive to our investment thesis in 2022.</li></ul>
