<p>As lockdowns begin to ease in the US and Europe, the flow of macroeconomic data is worsening, hinting at the economic pain to come. Asian companies are cash rich and even though the ability to service foreign currency denominated corporate bonds weakened last year, we are not forecasting a region wide meltdown. Having said that Asia is already feeling the pain of the lockdowns and rising unemployment in advanced countries through lower demand for exports. Difficult times ahead.</p>
