Technical Analysis View on ANZ Banking Group Limited: A significant upward correction (potentially a new uptrend) is contingent upon the break of 25.99 on a weekly closing basis. This would confirm positive interim trend change and target 28.00+.Price Action: Price has been in a downtrend since April 2015 which has amounted to a 41% decline (high to low). Any perfect downtrend consists of a succession of lower highs and lower lows. While lower highs are unbroken, the lows of April and July 2016 have been higher lows. “IF” 25.99 is broken on a weekly close basis we will have a higher low / higher high sequence confirming positive trend change.Momentum: Downtrend lows in Feb 2016 failed to be confirmed by new lows in MT momentum. This is typical of a MT trend reversal. MT momentum bias is currently positive.Key Levels: Last major high (May 2016) at 25.99. A break of this level will be the 1st higher high since early 2015.
