<p>S&amp;P ended 1.1% higher while Nasdaq was 1% higher. Tesla rallied 6% with a mixed session for big tech – Facebook, Amazon and Apple were lower by 0.6%, 1% and 0.4% while Google and Netflix were up 1.2% and 1.3%. Fed Chair Powell reiterated the primary goal of full employment and said it may take over three years for inflation to exceed the 2% target. US 10Y Treasury yields eased some of its 9bp sell-off to 1.43% to close at 1.40%. European equities were also higher by over 0.5%. German GDP growth in Q4 2020 was revised upward to 0.3% from 0.1%. US IG CDS spreads were 1.1bp tighter and HY was 6.7bp tighter. EU main CDS spreads tightened 0.9bp and crossover spreads tightened 3.2bp. Asian equity markets have opened ~1% higher today while Asia ex-Japan CDS spreads are 0.5bp tighter. Momentum in the Asian primary markets continue with six new dollar deals launched today dominated by Chinese issuers.</p>

US equity indices started lower with the Nasdaq falling ~4% in early trading before recovering most of the down move towards close. S&amp;P ended 0.1% higher while Nasdaq was 0.5% lower. Tesla closed 2.2% lower and Bitcoin, in which Tesla recently invested $1.5bn, was down 11%. US 10Y Treasury yields eased 3bp to 1.34%. Fed Chair Powell said in his testimony that the Fed is not close to tapering their QE, inflation is soft and that they would continue buying bonds even as the economy recovers. Meanwhile in Europe, FTSE and CAC 40 rose 0.2% and 0.2%, while the DAX and FTSEMIB fell 0.6% and 0.3%. US IG CDS spreads were 1bp tighter and HY was 5.9bp tighter. EU main CDS spreads widened 0.9bp and crossover spreads widened 4.7bp. Asian equity markets have opened mixed today while Asia ex-Japan CDS spreads are 0.7bp wider with seven new dollar deals this morning, the busiest day at the Asian primary markets in three weeks.

S&amp;P was 1.6% higher while Nasdaq rallied 2.6% as tech stocks outperformed. Amazon  and Microsoft  were among the large-cap gainers, up 4.3% and 3.3% besides Tesla  moving higher by 5.8%. Mining stocks were also in demand after the Gamestop  saga with the focus now on silver, which soared to eight-year highs. US 10Y Treasury yields inched up 1bp. A possible smaller fiscal package, ISM manufacturing index printing at 58.7 for January vs. 60.5 in the month before and the US Treasury reducing Q1 borrowing  due to higher cash balance made the headlines in the US. There is speculation that former ECB president Draghi could become the next Italian prime minister. FTSE, DAX and CAC also rose 0.9%, 1.4% and 1.2% respectively. US IG CDS spreads were 1.1bp tighter and HY was 7.1bp tighter. EU main CDS spreads tightened 0.5bp and crossover spreads tightened 1bp. Asia ex-Japan CDS spreads are 0.1bp tighter while Asian equities are ~1.2% higher today.
