Our research strategists seek to highlight securities which we believe are at major inflection points, based on our various technical and quantitative indicators, and offer asymmetric risk/return profiles. Our unique research methodology, centered on relative strength, enables our strategists to deliver superior investment recommendations.

Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

Our weight of the evidence approach leads us to believe the market remains in the early stages of a broad-based advance, meaning a buy-the-dip mentality is warranted. While we want to acknowledge that the potential for a US-China tariff escalation remains a risk for the market, we believe this is likely to be the case for the foreseeable future. In our December International Strategy, we highlight various themes which lead to our positive outlook, including actionable trade ideas in technology, health care and manufacturing.

Global Strategy: Health Care Outperforming - Overweight; India Breaking Out -Add Exposure

The U.S. has continued to separate itself from broad emerging market and developed international indexes. One positive is that MSCI EM and MSCI EAFE have been able to stabilize from a price perspective in recent weeks despite relative strength weakness vs. MSCI ACWI.  In today’s report we scour the globe for attractive investments, ex-U.S., in an environment where selectivity is key.

Global Strategy: Opportunities in Health Care & Materials Stocks

France

BioMerieux designs, develops, manufactures, and markets systems in the field of in vitro diagnostics for medical and industrial applications. The Company is specialized in the diagnosis of infectious diseases and pathologies. BioMerieux is also active in the analysis of food, pharmaceuticals and environmental samples to determine their microbiological quality.

Guerbet manufactures contrast media for radiology and magnetic resonance imaging.

Carmat is medical technology start-up company. The Company intends to market a fully implantable artificial heart for patients suffering in the aftermath of a heart attack or with late-stage heart failure and for whom standard drug therapy, ventricular assistance and/or a heart transplant have failed or are not possible.

Generale de Sante operates private hospitals.  The Company operates hospitals in France, Italy, Portugal, and Canada.

Orpea operates nursing homes.  The Company serves older clients in all stages of dependency through its facilities located throughout France.

Crossject SA develops needle-free injection systems for liquid medicines. The Company product ZENEO is tailored to deliver drugs intra-dermally, subcutaneously and intramuscularly.

Korian SA operates healthcare facilities, medical establishments.  The Company's facilities include retirement homes and rehabilitation centers. Korian is based in France.

Ipsen SA manufactures and markets a wide range of medical drugs for targeted disease areas including oncology, endocrinology, and neuromuscular disorders.

Virbac SA manufactures antibiotics, worm medicines, and vaccines for veterinary use.  The Company's products are distributed in the United States, Europe, Asia and South America.

Theraclion is a medical device company that specializes in High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). The Company offers a solution of echotherapy to ablate small lesions.

OLYMPUS CORPORATION manufactures optoelectronic products.  The Company's products include cameras, video sets, endoscopes for medicine and industrial use, microscopes, analytical equipment, office communication systems, laseroptical scanners, and ionic printers.

Globus Medical, Inc. is a medical device company. The Company is focused exclusively on the design, development and commercialization of products that promote healing in patients with spine disorders.  Globus Medical's products fall into innovative fusion or disruptive technologies.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Limited designs, manufactures and markets heated humidification products and systems for use in respiratory care and the treatment of sleep apnea.  The Company also offers patient warming and neonatal care products, including warming products and infant resuscitators.

Teleflex Incorporated is a global provider of medical technology products. The Company primarily develops, manufactures and supplies single-use medical devices used by hospitals and healthcare providers for common diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in critical care and surgical applications.

Insulet Corporation is a medical device company that develops, manufactures and markets an insulin infusion system for people with insulin-dependent diabetes.

Hologic, Inc. is a developer, manufacturer and supplier of premium diagnostic products, medical imaging systems, and surgical products. The Company's core business units focus on diagnostics, breast health, GYN surgical, and skeletal health.

SYSMEX CORPORATION manufactures reagents and equipment for clinical tests including hematologic (blood) and immune tests. The Company also develops, manufactures, and trades particle analyzers such as blood coagulation analyzer and related software. Manufacturing and sales outside Japan include the United States, EMEA, China and Asia Pacific regions.

Sartorius manufactures equipment for biomolecular and microbial separations, cell culture, concentration, fermentation, and purification.  The Company markets its products worldwide.

Smith & Nephew plc develops and markets advanced medical devices. The Group is involved in orthopaedics, endoscopy, and advanced wound management.

Sartorius Stedim Biotech develops and manufactures laboratory technologies and equipment for the pharma and food industries, as well as for public research institutes and laboratories.
