Thematic (Sector/Industry)

As a mature economy with stable businesses, Singapore's equity benchmarks are dominated by Banks &amp; Government Linked Companies (GLC's) which have grown large over time. The large listed companies in Singapore (private as well as GLC’s) are now facing headwinds from tight labour markets resulting in rising costs and, in the absence of growth, the need to focus on raising productivity.  It is therefore not surprising that the Singapore markets do not excite the average investor. However, within this space we have been finding many hidden gems which have consistently delivered and increasingly fit the needs of a Singaporean investor looking for stable returns in a low growth environment: the REIT marketplace. Over the last seven years the REIT index has delivered over 10% p.a. annualized return which stands in stark contrast to the meagre 4% returns from benchmark STI index.

Bund Center Investment, Ltd. invests in commercial property in China. The Company owns office buildings, hotels, and retail malls.

Hiap Hoe Limited is an integrated property developer. The Company develops luxury and mid-tier residential properties. Hiap Hoe also seeks out civil engineering and construction contracts but its main focus is developing its own residential properties.

Tuan Sing Holdings Limited an investment holding company with interest mainly in property development, property investment and hotel ownership.

Far East Orchard Limited operates a diversified portfolio focusing on property development, hospitality real estate development and management and healthcare real estate. The Company operates a hospitality portfolio spanning Australia, China, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Singapore and owns purpose-built medical suites in Singapore.

Hong Fok Corporation Limited is an investment holding company whose principal activities consist of property investment, property development, property management, and investment trading.

Sing Holdings Ltd. develops real estate.  The Company develops residential, commercial, and industrial properties and retains a stake in certain properties.

China New Town Development Company Limited is a real estate development company. The Company develops new towns in the People's Republic of China.

Heeton Holdings Limited develops and sells private residential properties.  The Company also manages and invests in residential, retail, and commercial properties.

Aspial Corporation Limited manufactures and retails contemporary jewelry.  The Company also develops and invests in properties.

Langham Hospitality Investments and Langham Hospitality Investment Limited is a stapled entity. The Company primarily owns and invests in a portfolio of hotels in Asia.

TOKYO RAKUTENCHI CO., LTD. leases real estate properties mainly in Kinshi-cho, Tokyo.  The Company also operates restaurants, saunas, bowling alleys, game centers, karaoke places, and theaters.

Kee Tai Properties Co., Ltd. develops, sells, and leases residential and commercial buildings which are constructed by independent builders.

PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk is a diversified and integrated property group and is involved in townships, residential homes, hospitals, hotels, retail malls and industrial estate development and management.  PT Lippo Karawaci through its subsidiaries is also engaged in property and REIT management.

Beijing North Star Company Limited develops, leases, and invests in properties. The Company operates shopping centers, hotels, restaurants, and recreation businesses.  The Company also provides property management.

Shahe Industry Co., Ltd. develops and markets residential buildings in Shenzhen, China.  The properties under development include the Shiji Village, the Luming Garden, and Baoruixuan.

L.M. Development Co., Ltd. manufactures and markets electronic products. The Company's products include desktop CD-ROM drives, portable CD drives, digital cameras, copy towers, and CD recordable (CD-R) and CD rewritable (CD-RW).

Liu Chong Hing Investment Limited, through its subsidiaries, invests, develops, and manages properties as well as providing other financial services.  The Company also has activities in treasury investment, trading, and manufacturing businesses.

Tande Co., Ltd. manufactures and markets special steel products including bearing steel, spring steel, alloy structure steel, and other related products. Through its subsidiaries, the Company also operates in commercial trading and real estate development.
