Amplifying Global FX Capital was founded in 2015 and is fully owned by Greg Gibbs. It is a registered company both in Australia and Colorado, USA and is a licensed in Australia to provide financial services.

We are producing a regular trading view orientated macroeconomic analysis of topical themes in global financial markets, with a particular focus on foreign exchange. We invite you to view an “executive summary” of these reports in “AmpGFX Reports” under our “Research” menu.

These reports are drawn from the analysis of Greg Gibbs and inform the capital management he undertakes on behalf of the company. The trading performance is posted periodically on our website. We aim to build our company into both a research and capital management business. We are currently in the planning phase for managing capital for wholesale customers.

Greg Gibbs has spent his working life of more than 26 years in financial markets, beginning in 1989 at the Reserve Bank of Australia, after completing a Bachelor of Economics Degree (Honours) at the Australian National University. He has been a CFA Charterholder since 2005. He has worked in Sydney, Singapore, New York and London for major global banks and presented on foreign exchange markets to major financial institutions and companies around the world, and maintained a high profile in the financial media.

Before Amplifying Global FX Capital, Greg was the Head of Asia Pacific Market Strategy at the Royal Bank of Scotland based Singapore. He now resides in Breckenridge Colorado.

In stepping back for a moment to assess what exactly is hurting global investor confidence, it is not as easy as it seems to put a finger on the source or extent of the problem and, therefore, what might restore confidence.  There is a wide degree of global market uncertainty at this time that in itself is holding markets back.  It may take some time for confidence to be restored, and indeed confidence may remain relatively low for the foreseeable future.  Most recently the oil market appears to be at the epicenter of the upheaval.  Uncertainty and volatility in the oil market is unprecedented in recent memory and the contagion to global markets has reached globally systemic levels.  Until greater clarity is restored to the oil market, the risk is high of still more severe global market upheaval and more extreme central bank policy responses.

Given the large discrepancy that has emerged between 2017-18 Brent futures prices (currently $40-$47 per barrel) and the Morningstar energy team's outlook for midterm oil industry fundamentals, we are amending our methodology for forecasting near-term oil and gas prices.Based on our current expectation that oil supply and demand will come into balance in mid-2017, we are launching updated Brent forecasts of $50-$55 for the second half of 2017 and $55-$60 for 2018 (approximately 20% higher than current strip prices on average). We will update our oil and gas producer valuations with this new pricing by the end of the current earnings period.Analyst: Lorraine Tan, CFA

The Fed is sticking to its outlook for gradual policy tightening, but weak growth is expected to be reported in Q4, activity indicators are weak heading into 2016, medium and longer term inflation expectations are down sharply, and the only plank left supporting rate hike forecasts is the solid labor market.  However, recent unemployment claims have drifted up, and a considerable pause in US rates appears likely.  The US economy has been dragged back to the pack to some extent by the deep fall in oil prices.  While the US energy sector is not all that large, it is much more cyclical than OPEC countries, and activity in this sector has been a factor slowing the US economy.   We may be moving into a phase where confidence in the US economy is waning.  This may tend to weaken the USD in 2016.  Global risk aversion and weaker commodity prices may also weaken commodity and emerging market currencies, but if perceptions on US monetary policy change enough, even these currencies may recover at some point.

Civitas Resources, Inc. operates as an oil and natural gas company. The Company focuses on developing and producing crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids in Colorado's Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin. Civitas Resources serves customers in the United States.

Sunoco LP distributes motor fuel to convenience stores, independent dealers, commercial customers, and distributers. The Company also operates convenience stores and retail fuel sites. Sunoco is located in the United States.

Equitrans Midstream Corporation owns, operates, acquires, and develops midstream assets in the Appalachian Basin. The Company manages natural gas transmission, storage, and gathering systems, as well as high-and low-pressure gathering lines. Equitrans Midstream serves customers in the United States.

EnLink Midstream, LLC is an independent midstream energy services company that offers supply and marketing services to oil and gas producers and consumers. The Company is involved in natural gas gathering, treating, processing, transmission, distribution, supply and marketing, and crude oil marketing. EnLink Midstream owns pipelines and plant facilities in the United States.

Antero Midstream Corporation owns, operates, and develops midstream energy assets. The Company offers gathering and compressions, water distribution, clearwater facility, fractionation, and pipeline safety services. Antero Midstream serves customers in the United States.

New Fortress Energy LLC operates as an an integrated gas-to-power company. The Company develops, finances, and constructs energy infrastructure assets. New Fortress Energy serves customers in the United States.

Northern Oil and Gas, Inc. is an oil and gas exploration and production company. The Company produces petroleum products. Northern Oil and Gas is currently focused on the Rocky Mountain regions of the United States.

SK Innovation Co., Ltd. refines, markets, and distributes oil.  The Company produces a variety of petroleum products, such as gasoline, kerosene, liquefied petroleumgas (LPG), and diesel oil.  SK Energy also manufactures petrochemical p roducts, including paraxylene, synthetic resins, styrene monomer, and ethylene.

S-Oil Corporation refines crude oil and sells petroleum and its related products.  The Company mainly focuses on petroleum refining, petrochemical, and lubricant business. S-Oil's major products are gasoline, bunker oil, kerosene, naphtha, lubricants, benzene, toluene, and xylene.

Huolinhe Opencut Coal Industry Corporation Limited of Inner Mongolia is mainly involved in the production and selling of coal in China.

Petronet LNG Ltd. was formed by the Government of India to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) into the country. The Company is a joint venture between GAIL, ONGC, IOC and BPCL. Frontline PLC owns a fleet of very large crude carriers and tankers that transport crude oil and oil products between ports. The Company's vessels are managed by ship management companies. Frontline conducts activities worldwide.

Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal Co., Ltd. operates in coal mining, processing, and distribution.  Through its subsidiaries, the Company also operates in hotel management, licorice planting, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and manages roadways.

Murphy Oil Corporation is a worldwide oil and gas exploration and production company with refining and marketing operations in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Company also has exploration and production activities in countries that include United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Ecuador. Murphy Oil has retail operations as well in the United States.
