Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

<li>Charts have not changed much from the prior week, with there actually being some deterioration within banks (KRE, KBE). </li>
<li>The $SPX has been unable to sustain a breakout above its 200-day MA/YTD downtrend, the $IWM remains below $190 resistance, and the DJIA could not sustain a breakout above 34,280</li>
<li>As long as these indexes are below these levels, we continue to see this as a good time to shift to more defensive areas and/or take profits.</li>

<ul><li>Monster delivered a mixed set of results with record third-quarter net sales of $1.62 billion which was below analyst expectations.</li><li>Their cost of sales increased significantly during Q3 of 2022 compared to the third quarter of 2021, primarily because of higher costs for ingredients and other inputs, such as secondary packaging materials and co-packing fees, higher logistical costs, higher aluminum can cost, and mix of geographic and product sales.</li><li>Monster’s strength remains its wide distribution versus smaller peers that helped the company create a strong demand for its energy drinks even in lull periods.</li></ul>
