This seemed like an overhang, but has ended up not being so much of one.The interim period, while showing a sideways trend for Renesas, saw its Peers outperform dramatically. The announcement of the equity offering and its size looked like it would present significant overhang. It has not turned out to be the case. DRAM and NAND flash makers have reported their first quarter earnings, and this has shown that DRAM revenues have grown slowly and NAND flash has stayed relatively flat.  DRAM and NAND market share breakouts have remained relatively stable for a year or longer, but recent spot market activity indicates that DRAM revenues may be headed for a correction.

In today's Samsung earnings call the company reported lower semiconductor profits than those of its first quarter, and gave relatively weak excuses for the company's performance.  This comes one day after SK hynix revealed higher-than-expected revenues and earnings for the same quarter, and one month after a very positive call from Micron.
