It will be the largest Asian Credit Research collection accessible on one platform, powered by over 120 years of collective credit analyst experience
SINGAPORE, 29 OCTOBER 2019: Global investment research network Smartkarma today announces the launch of pan-Asian Credit Research, bringing together the best independent minds in Asian fixed income markets.
On top of the rich pool of Equity, Macro, Capital Markets, and Event-Driven Research that Smartkarma clients already have access to, they can now gain unique insights on Asian Credit Research. Research notes will range from analysis of new credit issuances to high-conviction bottom-up work and core thematic research.
With over 120 years of collective credit analyst experience, Smartkarma will be the largest collection of Asian Credit Research found on one platform. Clients will be able to access morning notes, tear sheets, thematic in-depth reports, debt-capital markets, and new issuance analysis. They can also engage analysts directly for Q&As and other bespoke work.
Our all-encompassing cloud-based platform allows for cross-sector and cross-asset collaboration, giving users a unique perspective on how to invest across the capital structure of a company. This is yet another step by Smartkarma to foster a vibrant and diverse ecosystem for research.
This couldn’t be more timely, as legacy institutions are shedding thousands of credit and equity analyst positions post-MiFID II.
In this launch, Smartkarma is proud to have Singapore Exchange (SGX) as our partner. As part of our collaboration, SGX Bond Trading (SGX BT) clients will be able to access this unique research solution, which complements SGX-BT’s institutional bond trading platform.
“Smartkarma helps connect our clients to valuable, curated, independent research on a flexible and efficient platform. We are delighted to see Smartkarma expand convincingly into the credit space in Asia. Our clients, ranging from issuers to investors, will welcome the one-stop access to the largest collection of Asian credit research,” says Mark Leahy, Head of Fixed Income at SGX.
At the same time, we are bolstering our platform with new and existing Insight Providers that have a proven track record in Credit Research. New addition Lucror Analytics is a developed and emerging markets high-yield specialist that will meaningfully contribute to Smartkarma. Existing research provider Bondcritic will also bring its experience on Asian distressed, high-yield, and non-rated bonds. Last but not least, the roster features notable Insight Providers such as Vicki Bryan, Sebastian Ashton, Hank Calenti, and Alan Greene.
“With the launching of Credit Research on Smartkarma, we address an important gap in the market in the wake of MiFID II. The changes have deeply affected credit analyst teams and redrawn the map when it comes to research costs and relationships between research providers, investors, and corporations,” says Raghav Kapoor, Smartkarma CEO and Head of Research. “This is a material step forward in our mission of becoming the dominant research destination for truly independent and unbiased cross-asset research, which spans equities, fixed income, and capital markets.”
