Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

<li>The market continues to send a mix of risk-on and risk-off signals, though most of the risk-on signals are centered around value Sectors.</li>
<li>Value Sectors such as Energy, Financials, Manufacturing/Industrials, and Materials are currently our favorite areas for investment, and also Consumer Staples.</li>
<li>Some of our big picture supports are being violated, including the Russell MicroCaps (IWC) which is breaking below $134 as the Russell 2000 (IWM) tests support at $207.50-$208.</li>

Brent closed at a fresh five-month peak of $71.97/barrel on Thursday, ahead of the Good Friday holiday. It had flirted with $72 during intraday trading earlier in the week, but failed to breach that psychological mark. For the most part, the upward momentum stemmed from optimism over the direction of the US and Chinese economies. But is there a positive-news bias among investors? Though US and China continue to inch closer to a trade deal and Beijing reported surprisingly strong Q1 GDP data this week, there are plenty of pockets of decelerating economic growth across the world. It will be a complex set of factors that OPEC and its non-OPEC allies will need to measure and weigh when they meet towards the end of June to decide on their production policy for the second half of the year.
